Greetings and a very belated Happy New Year.
Inspite of reminders from my very efficient Editor Peggy, I am guilty of procrastinating on this message!!
I still have three more clubs to visit before I wind up my tenure It has been a great educative, inspiring and sometimes frustrating experience! I have felt very welcome in almost every club. Certain clubs have had just four or five members out of a membership of twenty-five turning up for the DC's visit… (not certain if this is due to their busy schedules or just indifference!)
Most clubs have good projects of different magnitudes and I congratulate all of them. I have also emphasised that friendship within the club and with other clubs in the District is extremely important and this is what keeps the flame of the candle burning.
I do hope members of clubs will offer to take up positions. Being a Club President is not difficult, as it is the committee who helps in making the decisions and if the work load is relegated properly, life becomes simple for the President. Refusing to take up positions resulting in a few members having to rotate in positions is totally unfair to the obliging existing executive committee. No President and the club folds up — which is a very sad state of affairs. I am hopeful that this situation will never arise in any club — It is teamwork where the seniors are there for guidance.
The 36th District AGM is just around the corner. Registrations are slow. Please do support the AGM — this is the only time when you get to meet with members from other clubs and form or strengthen friendships.
A group of twenty-two Inner Wheel members from District 330 celebrated International Inner Wheel day with District 319, Bangalore India. It was an eye opener. The members of District 319 are so dedicated and committed. We were welcomed very warmly and entertained thoroughly.
District 330 ISO Swarnalatha organised this trip with President Naseem of IWC Bangalore Orchard. Meticulous planning and all arrangements were made so well that our trip went on without a hitch! We also met up with District Chairman of 319, Malavika Krishnamoorthy and the following day with District Chairman of 318, Mysore, Mrs Vinita Sathish. Each District comprises of so many clubs — there were exchanges of bannerettes galore !!
The icing on the cake was when District ISO Swarnalatha was voted Mrs IIW Bangalore. She fully deserved the crown for her grace, but what clinched the title for her was her answer to the judges' questions!! It was not only fun with our counterparts but there was also so much of fun and bonding among us! We got to know and understand our sisters from other clubs and the greatest testimony of the success of this trip is that all of us are looking forward to another fun trip next year.
So over to you District Vice-Chairman and incoming District ISO.
I thank my executive committee for their support, all of whom have been a great source of strength!
