Strategic partner in Penang’s state wide celebrations, International Women’s day 2024

The Inner Wheel Club of Butterworth is a strategic partner in Penang’s state-wide celebrations held in conjunction with International Women’s Day 2024, thanks to the efforts of Club Secretary Dr Lalitha Ramasamy. Seven members gathered at the launch of the celebrations at University Sains Malaysia on 7th March 2024. It was a sea of women and a few male officials all dressed in purple inside and outside Dewan Tuanku Syed Putra that morning.

The guest of honour was His Excellency the Governor of Penang, Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak who was accompanied by his wife. Other notable dignitaries included the Deputy Chief Minister 1 of Penang, the Honourable Dato’ Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid and his wife; Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Aiman Athirah Sabu; YB Lim Siew Khim, the State Exco for Social Development Welfare and Non-Islamic Affairs and CEO of Penang Women’s Development Corporation Dato’ Ong Bee Leng.

The speeches were rightfully centred on honouring women’s contributions as were the panel discussions, quizzes and other interactions. IWC Butterworth with its partnership in the effort and its members’ presence succeeded in bringing Inner Wheel’s name to the fore.

The club appreciates its members who took time off to represent Inner Wheel at the function. Some of the ladies later took the opportunity to enjoy fellowship over lunch. The club as a strategic partner in the statewide celebrations will be holding its panel discussions on 24th March 2024 with guest speakers.
