DC Kamala’s Official Visit to IWCKL’s 7th General Meeting

On 01 February 2024, IWCKL held its seventh General Meeting. The Club was honoured to have District Chairman Kamala Yeap accompanied by Extension Chairman Shanti Menon, and District Vice-Chairman Vimalavathi Thayaman Pillai.

Before the meeting, DC Kamala was invited to a light lunch with the President and Committee Members where matters of the Club were discussed. When it was time for the General Meeting, the Committee Members organised a welcome ceremony with lanterns and Chinese New Year (CNY) music in the background for DC Kamala. The double happiness theme for the event was CNY and Valentine’s Day. The meeting room and tables were beautifully decorated with CNY decorations and flowers.

President Rani kicked off the meeting and DC Kamala was invited to join the Exco Members seated in front. DC Kamala delivered an inspirational speech encouraging Members to be more active by participating at District levels.

IWCKL inducted a new member, Kiran Gill, and welcomed her to active participation in all the Club’s activities. DC Kamala presented a plaque to PP Siew Leng for her over 40 years of membership.

President Rani presented a painting on behalf of IWCKL to DC Kamala to thank her for her visit. She also presented a bouquet of flowers to Toh Puan Aishah as it was her birthday on that day. There was a cake-cutting ceremony for members’ birthdays and wedding anniversary celebrations. The Committee had a photo taken with the mock cheque for $125,000, representing funds raised for the H Water project to provide access to clean and safe water to the Orang Asli communities in remote areas of Pahang. It is a continuation of the legacy of the late Dato’ Lee Chung Han, with funds raised by his family, along with friends and members of the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur.

Guest speaker, Mr Ashwin Thind, presented on the topic of Mental Health and Wellness in Aging. It was very educational and Members were actively raising questions which in turn were explained by Mr Ashwin. After the talk, Mr Ashwin was presented with a plaque in appreciation of his sharing of such an insightful topic.

The meeting was concluded and high tea with sumptuous food was served. It was a very good fellowship with Members looking forward to more fellowship bonding and camaraderie.
