A visit to IWC Taiping

On 17 June 2023, five members of IWC Taiping visited IWC AS, where a fun-filled rendezvous at Gunung Jerai was arranged. On 8 September 2023, members of IWC AS embarked on a journey of friendship and fellowship to IWC Taiping to reciprocate that visit.
Brightly clad in their signature black and purple attire, the members boarded a hired van and started their journey in the wee hours of the morning, arriving at the New Taiping Club at around 10.00 a.m., where warm embraces and greetings by the President and members of Taiping enveloped them.
President Harbajan then presented members with an Inner Wheel Cap, whilst VP Dr. Rosni of Alor Setar presented local delicacies from Kedah’s famed Pekan Rabu. After a feverish round of shutterbug activity, IWC AS members were taken on a tour of Taiping, a town which, boasts of many firsts, from the Museum to the Prison, the Railway, to the British Residency, and many more. How could members then not explore Taiping’s rich heritage?
The first stop was the Museum, a treasure trove of deep tradition and history. A short drive away brought them to the War Memorial, where members silently paid respects to Malaysia’s fallen heroes during WW2.
Then, there was a brief stop-over at the Taiping Zoo and a without-fail visit to the souvenir shops there. After lunch, which was a delectable spread, members took a short walk across the road to the Lake Gardens which provided a serene backdrop for members to unwind and enjoy the verdant beauty of the Lake and its surroundings.
A visit to the Antong Coffee Mill then followed, which allowed members to immerse themselves and relish the aromatic drift of the grinding coffee beans. The last stop was the mushroom farm, and it was truly an eye-opening experience as members explored the fascinating world of mushroom cultivation, whilst enjoying the farm-fresh delights.
The visit to IWC Taiping was a fulfilling experience, enabling both Clubs to strengthen the bonds between them. Friendship and the shared passion to forge stronger ties were indeed achieved. Thank you IWC Taping - this visit marked a memorable chapter in IWC AS’ ongoing journey of fostering goodwill and fellowship.
