Diwali being an occasion to celebrate victory over defeat, light over darkness, awareness over ignorance, is therefore an occasion to celebrate life.
Halloween on the other hand allows people to engage with their fears such as fear of death, dark of winter, of the unknown and yet in the same space it encourages wild joy. It transforms the things we dread most, into a celebration where we can embrace things we don’t understand.
Thus, IWC Taiping held its monthly meeting on 31st October 2022 with the theme DeepaWeen 2022 at President Harvinder Kaur’s residence to celebrate both the festivals. Members came dressed to the theme and brought food for a potluck dinner.
Jezznip Kaur had decorated the house with diyas, clay pots, balloons and gave members spooky tattoos to stick on their faces. After the brief meeting conducted by President Harvinder, members were treated to a sumptuous dinner of dosas, idlis, fried mee hoon, chicken curry, mutton curry, pumpkin pies, cakes, cookies, masala tea and wine.
Malinee and Jezznip Kaur conducted three type of games which members sportingly participated in. The sari tying blind folded had members in stitches of laughter and the catwalk fashion show turned into a dancing session.
However, the Golden Girl Mrs Rathy did an elegant catwalk to the delight of the members. The night ended with pleasant memories and moments that will be remembered for days to come.
