On 14th September 2022, President Natassha Thambaiya of the Inner Wheel Club of Johor Bahru (IWC JB) initiated a project to raise funds in support of a burn-victim, as the cost of skin grafting is not covered by the government hospitals. The burn-victim, Wang Jia Ling aged 14, was from a low-income family. Her mother is a housewife while her father is a labourer.

She suffered third degree burns on her hands and legs due to a gas tank explosion. The family was trying to raise RM 25,000 to cover the cost of her skin grafting. The Johor Parliament kindly donated RM 10,000.  She needed a further RM 15,000 to facilitate her procedure.

IWC JB raised RM3,000 in a short period of time.  Unfortunately, the

young girl passed away on 26th September 2022 due to severe infection.

With the permission of donors, the money raised was handed over to her bereaved family to be used for her funeral expenses. .

Nevertheless, IWC JB was comforted that the project was successfully completed and the money raised benefited the family in the end.
