Another training organised by District Editor Padmini for Club Members was, “GOOGLE MEET MADE EASY” on 22 April 2022. The training was conducted by Patricia Rao, ISO of IWC of Alor Setar, and attended by 23 participants, including DC Datin Gillian Lee from District 331.

Patricia took participants through the one and a half hour training. This software was launched in 2017 in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, which necessitated people to use digital communication tools and platforms for remote working.  Reminding participants to not compare this app to the zoom platform, Patricia said that Google Meet has its own advantages compared to other virtual training platforms.

All Google users have access to Google Meet, which is a free service and very user friendly. In the free version, up to 100 people can take part in a 60-minute meeting. Participants can join meetings from a calendar event, an email invite, or directly from Gmail, if one has a Google account. Helpful features, like live captions which allow participants to choose their language, changing layout to allow a maximum of 49 tiles on screen, visual effects, using the whiteboard and sticky note, as well as screen sharing, were some of the aspects that Patricia focused on.

It was a very productive training session, going by the enthusiasm shown by the attendees and the questions that were fielded, which Patricia handled effortlessly.

Thank you to Patricia for another relaxed and interesting session and hopefully, virtual trainings can continue as it appears to be a very cost-effective way to enhance the knowledge of a wider group of Club members.
