Making face shields to help protect and save lives

The COVID-19 Pandemic has taught us many things. In particular, it has taught us to be helpful and resourceful. The Inner Wheel Club of Ipoh East decided to embark on a project to make face shields for distribution to the frontliners and the needy. It is our contribution to the community to help protect and save lives.
These face shields were handmade by IWCIE members, family and friends. Spearheading the project is Organising Chairman Mrs Gomathy Ramachandran who gave a fun-filled hands-on demonstration of how to make the face shields at Past President Nirmala Nadeson’s house.
Members were very excited to meet and catch up after a long time. With hot piping tea and snacks and sharing of COVID-19 experiences, we managed to complete 1,000 face shields during the first session. Members also took home materials to continue making more with their family members. The materials were bought with funds collected from members.
The first batch of face shields were distributed to street vendors and roadside attendants near the Employees Provident Fund Building, Ipoh. It was was well received with smiles and words of appreciation.
